University of Glasgow Interpretive ECG Algorithm

(formerly known as the Glasgow Royal Infirmary Algorithm)

The Eclipse Plus and Eclipse 850 ECGs utilize the proven University of Glasgow (UG) interpretive algorithm to provide a "silent second opinion" on the electrocardiogram. Developed by Professor Peter Macfarlane, a pioneer in computerized electrocardiography, the algorithm has been continuously updated and improved over the past 30 years to stay in the forefront of electrocardiograph research. Today, the UG algorithm provides documented sensitivity and specificity, with these unique clinical advantages:

• The interpretive program basis its analysis on five clinically significant criteria: age, gender, race, medication and classification
• Clear, reason statements (such as "high voltages in limb leads" instead of "R in I > 1.4 mV") provide insight into interpretive calls.
• A pediatric program, with optional use of V4R instead of V3, and limits based on continuous age-based equations (instead of simple look-up tables), to take into account the unique anatomy and continuous development of the neonate and pediatric patient.
• Optional long and short interpretation results give just the right amount of information to suit your needs.
